Point is an innovative clip-on timer designed to be your reliable timekeeping companion.

With just a simple twist of the point, you can effortlessly set a timer right by your side. Once activated, Pointer will start the countdown, whether it's on your apron, shirt, hat, or sleeve.

Process

Concept

Raised in a family of restaurant owners, I grasped the significance of precise timing, especially with dishes like fried chicken.

To address this, I designed a that attaches to your apron or shirt, providing immediate alerts despite loud kitchen noise.

Sketches

With the clip, twist, and scroll method, I aim to design a timer that balanced between mechanical and electrical elements.

The goal was to design a timer that could be rotated using a rotary encoder, providing simultaneous adjustment akin to tuning a car radio.

Development

The arrow-shaped symbol provides an ergonomic grip, enabling easy hand rotation that integrates both mechanical and digital mechanisms.

The rotary encoder increments the timer by rotation and initiates timing by pushing.

The back component features a clip with a torsion spring for convenient attachment to aprons or shirts.

For portability, mini USB chargers were chosen over batteries to minimize weight.
