Spool Cord Organizer
Spool is a cord organizer that tidies cables with a simple twist. The design is inspired by a screw’s threading motion: Twisting the knob winds in the cord, and pulling from either end releases it. Designed to create a clutter-free workspace, it also functions as a sculptural piece on your desk.

DESIGN
Spool is designed to blend into any space while providing a simple solution to organize nearby cables. By keeping cords tidy, it helps create clutter-free areas in communal spaces, workshops, offices, or at home.
The mechanism includes a knob to adjust the pepper grind size and a top component that easily slides off for refilling peppercorns.
PROCESS
For the inspiration of its design, I looked into the threaded screw mechanism that many of us are familiar with. By using this mechanism, I created a cord organizer that is easy to use, keeps cables tidy, and also works as a sculptural piece on a desk.
Sketching and prototyping allowed me to explore different forms and test the mechanism. Using materials ranging from wood and cardboard to 3D prints, I was able to refine and solve the functional design of Spool.
